All Elite Wrestling Has a Star in Jamie Hayter
After making some televised appearances in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2019, Jamie Hayter was reintroduced to the AEW audience as Britt Baker’s muscle in 2021. However, Hayter consistently showed fans that she is one of the best wrestlers within the women’s division. Fans started to realize her true potential and began chanting her name whenever she would make an appearance on one of AEW’s programs. In 2022, Hayter won the AEW Women’s World Championship and is currently showing that she has the potential to be a true star in AEW.
Hayter vs. Toni Storm
Hayter faced Toni Storm at AEW Full Gear for the interim AEW Women’s World Championship. Hayter and Storm have some history and have already competed against one another during multiple events within AEW.
Hayter and Storm delivered a great match that contained an entertaining amount of physicality and drama that was able to keep the crowd intrigued and excited. Their match at AEW Full Gear was arguably the best match of the night. Hayter would go on to defeat Storm to become the interim AEW Women’s World Champion.
On the following episode of AEW Dynamite, it was revealed that Hayter will be crowned as the official AEW Women’s World Champion. Additionally, AEW updated their company website to crown Storm as the official champion from Sept. 4, 2022 to Nov. 19, 2022. It was smart that AEW removed the word “interim” and just listed both wrestlers as official champions. AEW has had too many interim world champions in 2022. During her title run, Storm was consistently defending her championship and delivering solid performances within each of her matches.
Hayter has managed to generate an incredible reaction from the audience over the past few months. The crowd has noticed that Hayter has the potential to carry the AEW women’s division and elevate the world title. The company made an incredibly wise decision in making her the world champion. Furthermore, the company could have given Hayter a push after her first few matches because she quickly showed that she is capable of having solid matches and can effectively sell the moves of her opponents.
Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida
On the Dec. 21 edition of AEW Dynamite, Hayter faced Hikaru Shida in an epic main event for the AEW Women’s World Championship. This match was Hayter’s first defense as champion. Furthermore, their match was one of the best women’s title matches within AEW and showed that Hayter is capable of delivering extraordinary performances within her title reign. Additionally, Shida proved that she is still one of the best wrestlers within the women’s division.
Hayter wants the AEW audience to recognize her as one of the hardest hitting wrestlers within the women’s division and this match shows that she deserves to declare that statement. The crowd was engaged and was reacting to the near-fall finishes towards the end of the match. Hayter was able to pick up the victory and Shida still managed to look strong in defeat.
AEW Must Capitalize on the Rapid Rise of Hayter
Hayter deserves to have a long title reign and strong storylines. AEW should avoid giving Hayter open challenges. The company should provide her with meaningful storylines that will be capable of elevating their women’s division and championship.
Since the inception of the company, the AEW women’s division has been heavily criticized by wrestling fans. Hayter is a homegrown talent and managed to become a superstar and crowd favorite through her consistent performances and appearances on AEW programming. The company should place their trust in her to effectively elevate their championship and women’s division by giving her valuable television time.
In short, Hayter deserves all the respect and praise that she has been receiving from the fans. The rise from sidekick to champion is such an incredible story and it takes an incredibly talented wrestler to make that rise in such a short period of time.
